Quinta do Noval : Vintage Port 2007

Duro-Tal - Portwein - Rot - 19.5° Quinta do Noval Quinta do Noval 2007 4002/07
  • Parker : 91
  • J. Robinson : 18
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2007 TINTO is the flagship wine here. Revisiting this after a year or so shows it still projecting a backward demeanor, being tight and powerful, with drying tannins on the finish. Decanting brought out the power, making it hard and a bit charmless at first, but I saw plenty of evidence that this wine could evolve into something more, even if it retains that crisp, relatively austere demeanor and elegant mid-palate. It seems more like an '08, in some senses, than an '07 at times, not necessarily a bad thing. This relatively new table wine entrant into the Douro scene has no track record, but it is a cellar candidate, it seems to me. It is a wine that still has something to prove in the cellar, but I'm still betting on it and it should come around. It just needs some patience. It will probably show better around 2014. Toss it in the cellar and forget about it for a couple of years. Drink 2013-2024.
