Wine Advocate-Parker :
The Prieur 2008 Volnay Champans issued from another of their sites ravaged by hail, but in its relatively light way projects tender cherry and plum fruit wreathed in resinous herbs and pungent whiffs of smoke. Site-typical suggestions of porcini and forest floor emerge on a satisfyingly ripe palate, and the moderately long finish is possessed of only very faintly gum-numbing tannin, suggesting - as did the corresponding Santenots - that a restrained approach to extraction (reflected also in this bottling's relatively modest saturation of color) was well-warranted. I would, however, only cellar this watchfully, and suspect it will be best enjoyed over the next 3-5 years.
