Chateau Prieure-Lichine's large, 70-hectare vineyard stretches over five villages in the Margaux appellation. Acquired by the Balland group in June 1999, the estate has greatly benefited from the new owners' efforts since that date. Vineyard plots are managed separately to make the most of each one, and Biological pest control is used. The grapes are picked by hand into small crates. They are destemmed without crushing, sorted on specially-adapted tables before being put into vat, and malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel, where the lees are stirred with a stick. Our philosophy: to introduce a new approach to viticulture in order to be more in tune with the terroir, and to consider the diversity of our soils as an advantage.

im 12. Jahrhundert von Mönchen gegründet wurde. Es wurde hier schon früh Wein angebaut, der schnell einen Ruf erlangte, jedoch erst nach der französischen Revolution wurde das Château wirklich zu einem Cru. Die kaiserliche Klassifizierung stufte Prieuré-Lichine als 4. Cru Classé ein und der langjährige charismatische Besitzer Alexis Lichine sorgte dafür, dass das Weingut einen weitreichenden Bekanntheitsgrad erhielt. Dieser kaufte das Château 1951 und gab ihm seinen heutigen Namen. Aufgrund seiner Persönlichkeit, seinem Dynamismus, seiner leidenschaftliche Liebe zum Wein sowie seiner

Innovationsfreude wurde er auch der Papst des Weines genannt.
